Celebrating 100 years of Saint Madelein Sophie's canonisation

“Be humble, be simple, and bring joy to others.” — Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat

This year, we joyfully celebrate 100 years since the canonization of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, a woman whose life continues to inspire hearts around the world. Born in 1779 in Joigny, France, Madeleine Sophie founded the Society of the Sacred Heart, dedicating her life to forming young people in faith, compassion, and wisdom. She believed that true education transforms not only the mind but also the heart — guiding each person toward a deep relationship with God and generous service to others. Canonized in 1925, her vision of “discovering and revealing the Heart of Jesus” remains alive today in schools and communities across the globe. As we mark this centenary, we give thanks for her courage, vision, and enduring legacy. May her example inspire us to live with hope, educate with love, and bring Christ’s compassion into our world.Lord, we pray in thanksgiving for the life and witness of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Through her example, teach us to love deeply, serve generously, and trust in Your Heart. May her spirit continue to inspire us to form lives rooted in faith, compassion, and hope. Grant that we may reveal Your love wherever we are. Amen.

By our charism, we are consecrated to GLORIFYING THE HEART OF JESUS: we answer His call to discover and reveal His love letting ourselves be transformed by His Spirit so as to live united and conformed to Him, and through our love and service to radiate the very love of His Heart. It is a call to live in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. His love draws us into a deeper communion with others. Through our love, humility, and selfless service, we radiate the compassionate love of His Sacred Heart to the world. C
